So you mean speed bursts i guess
Love the beard
🎸🤘Fire
Thank you Tom! These licks are always really inspiring for developing my phrasing. Can't wait to practice these later!
I heard sound like javanese scale.. Javanese Indonesian.. Pentatonic scales.. Amazingly sounded i heard..
I'm new to learning guitar (seriously learning) and REALLY focused on self-correcting bad technique now, in my first few months. I really appreciate this in-depth lesson. I have I guess what I'd consider a "moderate" problem with my pinky going up about 3/4 inch while running scales. Anatomically, I just don't see how I can keep my pinky knuckle parallel with the fret board. It's definitely at an angle, but I am working hard to adopt the relaxation and brain messaging techniques you provided. Thanks again!
Holy shit I was playing around with that exact scale the other day. I was just mucking about and then stumbled across it going 'damn that sounds pretty cool'. For context I know almost nothing about music theory after 15 years of playing 😂😂
Hello Tom Hess, First of all, great lesson. My question is that would it be correct of me to assume this process also works for sweep picking?
Love to see something like this with the other modes 🎸
these Lydian licks sound great!
Good tip Tom!!
But how can we do pinch harmonics with that grip?
The same way you do pinch harmonics with any other grip.
I don't have 24 frets 😢 I only got 22
Where do I get a 27 fret guitar!?!?
This is the first time I've seen this ever and it sounds really unique definitely going to go try these out
Hello Tom Hess, I really like your way of teaching and because you don't beat around the bush. I saw that you have a very good course for learning the guitar step by step in a personalized way, but my question is the following How can I access these classes if I am from Cuba and therefore we do not have money? What I really mean is that you have few resources but you really want to advance, you can access your courses or find resources to really improve.
It's Cool
The engage / disengage thing is pretty similar to what we do when typing. We don’t tell our fingers to move off the key right we just relax them. Genius move there, sir. Thank you
Definitely a D7#9... the shape even looks like a 7 chord.
PLEASE HELP I CANT FIGURE OUT HOW TO ONLY PLAY THE TOP AND BOTTOM NOTES OF THE ARPEGGIO ONCE WITHOUT LIFTING UP MY PICK!!! Also lifting my finger off the string I had just played just makes the open string ring out???
Hendrix Chord lol.
u got that rite
🤘🎸
I know how to double tap if i hold my rifle, thanks for teaching another style of double tapping! Your tutorials are amazing.
❤🤘🎸
Almost sounds like "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" by itself. Lol
you have so many teacher
nice explanation, thanks.
This is very clear and great for practicing! Thanks Tom.
🎸🤘
Pebber (R.I.P.) sent me. I stumbled upon looking at the next note just recently. I was playing I Don't Know, R.R. and kept messing up the harmonics, I want the right strings in the harmonic, not all of them. To do this I looked ahead to the twelfth and right before I got there I immediately looked to seven. Seamless. The arpeggio lesson is awesome but even more awesome to me, is knowing for certain what your next move will be. Thanks!
Not only are the ideas cool, but practicing them is so fun. Thank you, Tom Hess!
Love the chappers buddy 🤘🏼😈🤘🏼🏴
10/10 glad i ran into this
minor i chord and diminished i° Dorian #4, Lydian #2, and Lydian b3. That's why it sounds good. It's "out of key" (major and minor) but you can use these modes for character. Dorian #4 is aka Romainin Minor. Anytime your using Dorian you can also add Dorian #4. Lydian b3 (aka Lydian Diminished and Mel min #4) is Dorian #4 natural 7. If your Borrowing form Dorian #4 and need a natural 7 leading tone. Dorian, Dorian #4, Dorian #4 nat7
your beard is fucking awesome
Should be common sense.. but these days? Not so much. Seems "do as I say not as I do" is the norm. Great reminder of the practice what you preach mentality.. I think people forget how effective leading by example really is 🤘
D Dorian nat 3 #5 nat 6 nat 7 Everything is Dorian or variations of Dorian.
GREAT Video Thank you
Well presented sir! Thanks!
🔥🔥🔥🔥

So glad I happened across this video at this point in my playing. Exactly the kind of detailed information I need. Thank you for taking the time to explain important technique details like this.
This is pure gold from Tom Hess. Thank you!
Tv 🤘🎸
Thank you for the video and thorough analysis!
I completely agree with you, that this way to hold the pick is the best one. Another advantage point in my opinion is when you try arpeggios using both pick and fingers (middle and ring finger), this way gives you much more confort and fluidity…
